Highway 395 Workshop

Photos by Hal Kam
Hal and Tom hit the road again with another great photography workshop, this time along US Route 395 and the beautiful Eastern Sierra.

Hal and Leica representative Tom Brichta will lead you on a 5 day, 4 night excursion where you will witness the pure natural wonder of the Eastern Sierra from Bridgeport to Lone Pine, all along scenic Highway 395.

Both Hal and Tom know this area intimately so you'll be in great hands. They'll take you to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, the Japanese internment camp at Manzanar, the unique Alabama Hills near Lone Pine, the tufa formations on Mono Lake, the historic ghost town of Bodie and many more picture perfect sites.

Although this workshop is nearly full, contact Hal at Camera West in Walnut Creek and I'm sure he can fit you in. You won't regret it!

New Leica M9-P

In a bid to make the Leica M9 as inconspicuous as possible for photojournalists, Leica has dropped the famous red dot logo on a re-styled version of the M9, the M9-P. No more need to pull out the black tape.

Spec-wise the M9-P is identical to the existing M9, although the new P has a scratch-resistant, sapphire crystal covering and a body finished in "vulcanite leatherette", which is  resistant to wear.

The new Leica M9-P will cost $7995.00 and will start shipping in July, 2011.

Life In Photographs

Ex Beatle Paul McCartney and daughters talk about the new retrospective photo book and exhibition: 'Linda McCartney, Life In Photographs'

In 1969, McCartney married American photographer Linda Eastman, whom he described as the woman who gave him "the strength and courage to work again" after the break-up of The Beatles. The pair had met previously at a 1967 concert during her UK assignment to take photographs of "Swinging Sixties" musicians in London. They remained married until Linda's death from breast cancer in 1998.
